Have you just replaced a vehicle’s ECM? You then need to programme the VIN into the ECM or the engine might not start.
Let’s look at this using the 2016 and newer Nissan Titan Cummins 5.0L diesel coverage with the latest Snap-on software.
Start at the System menu, then select Engine, and the tool will tell you that the ECU needs to be determined to correctly identify this system. This will take about five seconds. Switch the ignition on.
Continue, and when complete go to ECU Identification then VIN Registration, which will allow the VIN of the vehicle to be written into the ECU.
Continue through the initial screens then when asked to input the VIN code, hit Edit and type in the new value before pressing OK.
At the next screen you will be able to verify that the code is correct. If it is then press Program; if not then press Return.
A few clicks to complete the job – ECM programming made easy.
