CODE SCAN PROCESS
How about performing a complete vehicle health check with just one touch?
A quick way to view all vehicle codes and readiness monitor status is to use Complete vehicle system scan. Complete vehicle system scan may be available from the Systems Menu. Note: Complete vehicle system scan is available on 39 Makes increasing your Speed, Certainty, and Profitability.
Pre/post-scan reports can either e-mailed or printed for a customer showing the condition of the all the vehicles systems.
Covering more than just the engine system, performing a full vehicle complete vehicle system scan insures yourself and your customers’ peace of mind. Many systems do not turn on a light or put a message on the Diagnostic Information Center of the vehicle. Uncover hidden issues!
Good practice would be to do a pre-scan before working on the vehicle. The scan makes the customer aware of any and all issues. Then do a post-scan after work is complete to confirm the repairs are correct.
The Complete vehicle system scan option is available from the vehicle systems menu.
Selecting Complete vehicle system scan starts a progressive scan of all supported control modules and displays the codes in a list.
As you can see, 26 different systems were analyzed Complete vehicle system scan. Once completed, the results are displayed by system category. A list of all the systems analyzed with DTC totals, And then a categorized system list with DTC totals is shown in the order they were scanned.
Selecting the Save icon from the Complete vehicle system scan toolbar saves the Complete vehicle system scan results as an XML file for printing or future review.
VIEWING SCAN REPORTS ON THE TOOL
You can review the XML file by selecting Previous Vehicles, and Data > View Saved Data and then select the XML file from your saved file list. When opened, it displays general vehicle information and a list of Diagnostic Trouble Codes with a brief description.
Select the file you wish to view.
The complete vehicle system scan report displays on the screen.
Saved DTC XML files can be viewed and printed from a personal computer using ShopStream Connect™. With the diagnostic tool connected to the PC, the files can also be transferred and managed on the to the PC for future use.

VIEWING SCAN REPORTS USING SHOPSTREAM CONNECT™
Download the software by clicking the link, and follow the on-screen prompts to install.
The files stored on the tool appear on the right-hand side of the screen. Double Click the file you wish to open. Data with the type “XML” are the vehicle scans.

Select the desired printer, and click the “Print” button.
You can then show the printout to the customer. Printing the report can help justify any diagnostic fees to the customer.
After the repair is complete, you can open the post-scan XML file and print it out.
The post-scan report shows the customer that the repairs have been completed and confirmed.
