Viewing Secure Web Sites

Symptoms

When you trying to view secure Web site using Microsoft Internet Explorer, the Web site cannot be accessed.

Note: Secure Web sites are generally accessed by using a URL that includes the https:// protocol.

Resolution

For the best experience, and to avoid Internet Explorer 8 related errors when using the Internet Snap-on recommends the Mozilla Firefox browser. The Mozilla Firefox browser is free and offers improved browser speed, improved security and free browser security updates. The instructions below can be used to download and install Firefox.

1. Open Internet Explored and navigate to www.mozilla.org or www.mozilla.com
2. Click on Download FireFox
3. Click on FREE DOWNLOAD
4. Click on the Save button
5. Select Desktop from the left panel and then click on the Save button. The download will begin.
6. Once the download is complete a “FireFox Setup” icon will be placed on the Windows Desktop. Double click/tap the “FireFox Setup” icon.
7. Click on the Run button.
8. Leave the “Make FireFox my default browser” box CHECKED and click on Upgrade. The download will begin.
9. Once the download is complete the select “Import your home page from Internet Explorer” and click on the Next button.
10. Select “Microsoft Internet Explorer” and click on the Next button.
11. Once the import completes FireFox will launch.
