Welcome to Snap-on Training Solutions. This module is designed to help you get the most out of your ZEUS diagnostic tool, and covers the use of the Quick Lookups function, including Oil Specs and Resets and Technical Service Bulletins.
Quick Lookups provides you just that: quick access to vehicle specific Oil Specifications, service indicator Reset information, and TSBs. To access these features, you must have the current software version installed and an internet connection.
Oil Specs and Resets
Let’s take a look at Oil Specs and Resets.
Since we don’t have a vehicle identified, we need to select a vehicle. If we already had an active vehicle, we would only need to confirm it before continuing.
So, let’s choose a vehicle. Follow the screen prompts to enter the year, make, and model specifics. We’ll choose a 2010 BMW 328i.
Select OK to confirm the vehicle. Here we are. On the Fluid Capacity tab, Engine oil specifications are displayed for the various models of our vehicle.
The Reset Procedures tab, shows us the OEM manual reset procedures for various service indicators that may be available for the vehicle.
If an automated reset is available, the Functional Reset tab will be selectable. The Compact Scan Module must be connected and communicating with the vehicle in order to perform a reset.
Selecting the Functional Reset tab will prompt you to confirm the identification of the vehicle.
Once the vehicle is identified, follow the screen prompts to select the component indicator you wish to reset.
TSBs
Checking for TSBs is an important initial step in any diagnosis. The TSB lookup feature within Quick Lookups gives you immediate access to vehicle specific OEM technical service bulletins, recalls and campaign information, basically saves you from wasting time chasing a problem that has a known solution.
To access TSBs, you’ll need to identify a vehicle, just like we did for Oil Specs and Resets. Since we already have an active vehicle, we’ll use it. But, if we wanted to search TSBs for a different vehicle, we could select the Change Vehicle Icon to clear the current vehicle and ID a new vehicle.
Also, as an added tip, you can access TSBs any time from the lower toolbar TSB icon if a vehicle is already active. The TSB icon is only active when TSBs are available.
Now let’s find some TSBs.
Our 2010 BMW is already active, so we’ll select OK to confirm it.
A list of TSBs, recalls and related information displays for our vehicle. To further refine the search, enter a search word or TSB number to narrow the results.
Let’s take a look at the clutch-related TSBs. Let’s select this one: 35 01 12
And there it is. The OEM reference number, the title, and its publish date. Just that quick.
You now have the same TSB information an OEM technician would have, and you can print the TSB right from this screen.
Use Touch, Swipe, Pinch or Zoom gestures to customize the view.
There you have it, access to important OEM technical and safety information is that fast using Quick Lookups.
